Living With Paris seems like an absurd show, but it exists. The irreverent 'cooking' show follows one of the most famous women of the early '00s — Paris Hilton — as she attempts to master cooking with the help of some famous friends. The best thing about Netflix's Cooking With Paris is actually watching how these friendships interact. You won't learn much about food while watching Cooking With Paris. But you will be able to discover more about Paris Hilton. In Cooking with Paris Episode 1 we see Hilton's relationship to Kim Kardashian, her best friend.
Paris Hilton was there before Bravo's Real Housewives and Instagram influencers. After making a name for her as a party-goer, Nicky Hilton's daughter and Kathy became a star through The Simple Life. The series followed Hilton's friend Nicole Richie while they interacted with "common people". While they were dressed up in adorable clothes, and acting stoicly, the pair attempted to do simple tasks. Richie quickly rose out of Hilton's shadow and became a model, actor and personality. Hilton eventually saw her celebrity status eclipsed by her longtime friend, stylist Kim Kardashian.
Though it might be hard to remember, there was once a time when Kim Kardashian — along with Kris and Kourtney and Khloe and Kendall and Kylie — lived in the shadows of Paris Hilton and her sister Nicki. They weren't anything but nobodies. Their father Robert was best friends with O.J. Simpson, and repped him at the trial of the century. Kim is best known as being part of Paris's entourage. Since childhood, they were best friends. Kim was first featured in pap as Paris's friend.
In 2021, though, those tables have turned, but it's clear their friendship has endured. As a cooking show, Cooking With Paris sucks, but as a revealing look at one of reality television's most titanic friendships, it's art. Well, I mean, sort of?
Cooking with Paris opens its first episode by our host walking through the grocery shop on a glamourous catwalk. Although she gets her train all messed up, it is okay because there are handlers at her disposal to help her prepare for her dreamy breakfast featuring Kim Kardashian. Hilton seems to be a warm, sweet and dependable partner in her relationship with her assistant. That's the core theme of cooking with Paris. Hilton knows she is approaching a pivotal point in her life, and she must learn how to take care of them if she wishes to have children. That's how you feed them.
Kim Kardashian is an icon of international business, law, celebrity, mother, and a father to four. Kardashian, like her friend Kim Kardashian, has always believed that being beautiful and picture-perfect is the most important thing. Your preconceived image of Kardashian may be discredited as soon as she enters Hilton's house in casual clothing and a calmly mature manner.
Kim is literally the "mom" of their friendship. The two celebrities reminisce and gossip about their pasts while laughing over blue marshmallows. It soon becomes apparent that Kardashian is the anchor of both the friendships. Kardashian is smart, strategic, and responsible. The banter between the women is more sweet than the desserts from Hilton's kitchen. The camera is just a third wheel in the friendship of these women over the past two decades.
Cooking With Paris may be the only cooking program worth your time, not just for its culinary disasters but also because of the insight into some of 21st-century's most prominent personalities. Even though we have learned to distrust reality TV, there is something about Hilton's and Kardashian's conversations in Episode 1.
Cooking With Paris is now streaming on Netflix.
